SIKHUPE – Eswatini has officially unveiled Phase One of its new diplomatic lounges at the King Mswati III International Airport, completing a critical link in the Kingdom’s high-end tourism and conference infrastructure.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Senator Pholile Shakantu, hosted Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini for an exclusive tour of the facility today, just moments before his departure to Kenya.

The “Palazzo” Connection

The Prime Minister emphasized that these lounges are not just about luxury; they are a strategic necessity. As Eswatini prepares to host a surge of international summits at the newly opened Ezulwini Palazzo International Convention Centre (ICC), the airport now offers a secure, dignified transition for arriving global dignitaries.

”These lounges will complement the Ezulwini Palazzo ICC,” the Prime Minister noted, expressing optimism about welcoming global delegates to the Kingdom’s “First World” facilities.

Upholding International Standards

Senator Shakantu highlighted that the project aligns Eswatini with international law standards regarding the treatment of diplomats.

  • Security & Dignity: The establishment provides a specialized area for diplomats to engage and conduct business privately.
  • Global Reputation: The move reflects Eswatini’s commitment to international protocol, ensuring that the Kingdom’s first impression on the world stage is one of excellence.

The Source Verdict 📈

With the launch of Eswatini Air’s expanding routes and the opening of the Ezulwini Palazzo, the KMIII International Airport lounges are the “final piece of the puzzle.” Eswatini is no longer just a destination; it is a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) powerhouse. For local businesses in transport, catering, and luxury retail, this is a clear signal that the “Executive Economy” is open for business.
