MBABANE — Following widespread patron frustration over the failed entertainment showcase on September 25, 2026, management at Mdzimba View Shisanyama has spoken directly to The Source to provide full transparency on the pre-event vetting process, artist confirmations, and immediate steps being taken to resolve patron claims.
The venue reaffirmed that it operated strictly as a site provider, receiving zero proceeds from gate collections or advance ticket 9sales, which were handled independently by promoter Mr. Harvey Cobo (Xobolwakhe Harvey Vilakati) operating under Season 24.

In a direct follow-up interview with The Source, Mdzimba View management disclosed that prior to approving the booking, the venue conducted background inquiries with other venue operators regarding the promoter’s track record.
Despite industry caution, the venue ultimately greenlit the event after receiving direct, verifiable confirmations that headline artists Vusi Nova and Ndu Browns were fully booked and scheduled to perform.
To ensure a seamless flow and protect patron experience, Mdzimba View management explicitly instructed the promoter that the headline acts must arrive early at the venue. However, despite these operational conditions, the performance schedule collapsed on the night.
”We share your disappointment and are actively seeking answers,” venue management stated. “An emergency meeting was set with Mr. Harvey for a way forward, and he attended to cooperate on resolving patron concerns.”
Independent verification by The Source confirms that promoter Xobolwakhe Harvey Vilakati faces separate legal proceedings in the High Court of Eswatini.
Court documents confirm Simunye Fest organisers initiated urgent High Court proceedings against Mr. Vilakati, officially stamped on September 4, 2026—weeks prior to the Mdzimba View show. The application seeks urgent relief against the promoter, naming the National Commissioner of the Royal Eswatini Police Service as a second respondent.
By facilitating patron refunds and insisting on promoter accountability, Mdzimba View Shisanyama aims to protect its brand reputation while setting a standard for venue transparency in Eswatini’s entertainment industry.
Industry analysts note that the incident underscores the vital importance of formal contractual guarantees, escrow-backed ticketing, and clear operational protocols between venue hosts and independent event promoters.
📈 THE SOURCE VERDICT
CONSUMER PROTECTION ANALYSIS: Mdzimba View’s proactive due diligence, demand for early artist arrivals, and ongoing assistance with patron refunds demonstrate responsible venue management. However, the event highlights the ongoing structural risks venues face when hosting third-party promoters without direct control over gate collections.
